Dr. Tidwell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology with a minor in Teacher Education from the University of California at San Diego in 1984. He subsequently attended the University of California at Los Angeles and earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the school of dentistry in 1988. Dr. Tidwell completed his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Washington. He was asked to join the faculty in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Washington in 1992 and he continues to teach in the Residency training program.
Dr. Tidwell also participated in a one-year fellowship in Maxillofacial Surgery in Arnhem, The Netherlands. This experience allowed him to treat many patients with a multitude of maxillofacial problems. Dr. Tidwell has achieved Diplomate status for both the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is past president of the Washington State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
